Advanced Nurse Practitioner–Outpatient/Community Palliative Care

Salary £46,375 to £52,500 pa (inclusive of allowances) depending on experience

We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic Advanced Nurse Practitionerwith vision and clinical leadership skills to join us at St Christopher’s at an exciting time of new service developments. We are seeking an individual to take direct responsibility for promoting and providing specialist palliative care of the highest quality by leading and managing one of our five Community/Outpatient/Palliative Care Teams. Our current vacancy is in our outpatient service where two teams of nurses work across two sites assessing patients in nurse led clinics.

You will have substantial palliative care and/or oncology experience and have experience of working at Band 7 or above along with advanced assessment and prescribing skills. You will also be able to demonstrate proven management experience and will be motivated to support, develop and provide a high quality service.

The successful candidate will be responsible for a group of clinical nurse specialists, co-ordinating the multi-professional team. The post-holder will contribute to the delivery of the service as an Advanced Practitioner. The post holder will also contribute to our education and training programmes and have the opportunity to participate in research as well as initiating audit projects.

We operate a shift system for CNS’s to ensure a visiting service is available from 730am to 1000pm. During the night, calls are managed and visits made by nurses based on the inpatient unit.

The hospice is committed to supporting the professional development of its nursing staff. There are many opportunities for development e.g. the use of ultrasound and learning cognitive behavioural therapy techniques. NHS pensions can be transferred providing this is within 12 months of having left the scheme.
