The Rural Support Team in North and West Highland has been up and running for nearly a year now, and the model is ready to expand.
Opportunities to be based primarily in Acharacle, Wester Ross and Skye & Lochalsh, Caithness and Sutherland – though all practitioners will help provide service across the patch.
Whether you are an Advanced Nurse or an Advanced Paramedic, being part of this prestigious team offers you the exciting opportunity to work in a variety of stunning locations and embrace the unique challenges and opportunities presented by rural practice, being based in an out of hours centre within a community hospital or in primary care settings in the above locations. You will ideally be experienced in pre hospital care, community hospital and transfer environments, which require extended skills such as non medical prescribing, advanced clinical assessment, BASICs, ALS, PLS, intermediate and palliative care. We are also seeking nurses who have experience at specialist or advanced practice level within the primary care environment in both unscheduled and scheduled care provision. Opportunities to acquire additional skills would be made available to the right candidates who are as excited about this as we are.
In remote and rural locations, the healthcare professional is a key part of the community, which brings specific challenges but can also offer fantastic levels of personal and professional satisfaction. You will be working as part of an extended team of professionals including the Scottish Ambulance Service, RNLI Coastguards, Fire and Rescue Services, Mountain Rescue, and Local Community Hospitals.
