Job Description

Due to recent investment into our Acute Medical Unit (AMU) we are delighted to announce the development of a new Band 7 Specialist Physiotherapist post. We are looking for a highly skilled and dynamic physiotherapist to provide senior clinical and operational leadership alongside the therapy team and the wider MDT.

The post holder will assist with the strategic and clinical development of A+E, AMU and ward based services. This post offers an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to develop clinical and managerial skills within this speciality and to oversee the development of others.

The post would involve working alongside the existing band 7 therapists, leading an excellent team of physiotherapists, occupational therapists and technical instructors.

It is an ideal opportunity for an individual to develop their acute and complex assessment skills, discharge planning and specialist respiratory skills. The post will cover a variety of clinical presentations including: frail and socially complex, neuromuscular and acute medical. The post holder would require an element of knowledge relating to non-invasive ventilation.

The post holder will be expected to engage in research and audit and maintain up to date skills and knowledge in order to implement evidence based practice. The role will require teaching to undergraduate students as well as providing specialist advice to colleagues. Excellent support will be given towards continual learning and professional development.

All staff are expected to work flexibly to support a 7-day service and the successful candidate will be expected to work at weekends and on Bank Holidays within all fields of medicine and to participate in the on call and respiratory twilight rota.

By joining this team you will be part of a combined Therapy Services department of approximately 240 staff, consisting of B2-4 Therapy support staff, Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists.
