Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides services through its three hospitals in Andover, Basingstoke and Winchester. We provide all general hospital services for planned and emergency care as well as specialist services. These include Pseudomyxoma Peritonei for which we are one of the only two national centres treating this rare abdominal cancer. The Trust also provides services at the Countess of Brecknock Hospice in Andover and outpatient services are provided in Alton, Bordon and Romsey.

We require an enthusiastic RMN/RGN Alcohol Nurse Practitioner to join our Alcohol Intervention Team who will be expected to work across HHFT hospital sites of Basingstoke, Winchester and Andover. The main role will be based at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital Winchester .The Team exists to act as a resource for the hospital and provides education, information and support to hospital staff, in addition to providing specialist support to patients with an alcohol-related need.
The successful candidate will work as part of the Team to model good practice in alcohol screening and brief/extended intervention in out-patient settings and detox management in in-patient, and the Emergency Department. You must be willing to consider working occasional evenings to promote awareness within the ED departments
The ability to be able to assess patients alcohol needs within a hospital setting. Be highly skilled in providing training and delivery of brief intervention, health education, advice and information, as well as promoting screening of hospital patients.
Be able to work autonomously and confidently within a hospital setting.
Be willing to participate in a duty rota system and would be expected, on occasion, to work in other hospital sites to provide training, development and cover leave.
This post requires an extensive knowledge and relevant experience of alcohol misuse
issues and treatments.
