Applications are invited for Anaesthetic Clinical Fellow posts in Plastic Surgery and Burns at Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford. These posts are a great opportunity to learn a wide range of clinical skills that will benefit you in whichever anaesthetic specialty you pursue as your career progresses. We have regular start dates available from August 2017.

The successful applicants will provide, along with the existing Anaesthetic Team:

  • Burns management and intensive care – management of burns in children (lower limit 6 months) and adults (MOF, sepsis, procedural sedation and anaesthesia), achievement of burns and plastic higher and advanced unit of training, on call commitment is to Burns ITU
  • Regional anaesthesia for upper limb (1300 blocks per annum in this regional hand centre)
  • Anaesthesia for free flap surgery
  • Extensive use of TIVA
  • Head and Neck anaesthesia, difficult airway management
  • Paediatric anaesthesia – paediatric plastic surgery and cleft surgery (3 months and above)

You will also be afforded the following research and audit opportunities to enhance your CV for consultant applications:

  • 1 day per week for research/ audit work (dedicated non- clinical time)
  • Experienced mentorship
  • Expected to complete an audit project, a research project, publish a poster, present at meetings

The Trust has a reputation for providing high quality well-structured care in a friendly and supportive environment. We are looking for dynamic colleagues with enthusiasm and leadership qualities. You should be licensed and fully registered with the GMC. The post would be ideally suited to FRCA trainees who have at least 2-years experience in specialty training. The posts are suitable for full-time and LTFT trainees.

The trust currently does not reimburse interview expenses.

MEHT contracts are subject to the completion of a satisfactory 6 month probationary period.

All Registered Nurse/Midwife/Theatre Practitioner or ODP you will be required to take a Drug Calculation Test. (please note 100% pass mark required)

All HCA/HCSW/MCA will be required to take a Literacy and Numeracy test (80% pass required) as part of the pre employment process.
