Job Description

We are looking to recruit a number of motivated and enthusiastic Band 4 Assistant Practitioners to join our Leeds Centre for Neurosciences and Head & Neck teams.

You will need to have completed a recognised Assistant Practitioner preparation programme with a minimum of 120 academic credits at Level 4 and hold a Certificate in Higher Education or Foundation Degree. In addition you must have completed Band 4 competencies through national occupational standards or through work-based learning.

Successful candidates will possess excellent communication and organisational skills and demonstrate a passion for delivering the highest standards of care.

Our Centre for Neurosciences offers multidisciplinary team working to provide specialist care in the assessment and treatment of patients with a wide range of conditions including stroke, neurosurgery, neurology and rehabilitation.

You will be able to demonstrate an awareness and understanding of both chronic and acute illness and how these can impact on a patient's and their family's lifestyle.

Experience within Neurosciences is not essential as a comprehensive induction package will be delivered.

Our Head & Neck Services team have opportunities on ward L23 which is a mixed Ear, Nose & Throat, Maxillofacial and Spinal Surgery ward. We have 22 beds, 18 of which are ENT/Maxillofacial and 4 are Spinal Surgery. We deliver high standards of patient care and are looking for someone committed to our patient centred approach.

The successful candidate will be providing direct patient care and performing clinical skills such as catheterisation, complex wound dressings, surgical drain and tracheostomy care.

You will be able to develop the skills required in a supportive atmosphere and become a valued member of our nursing team.

You will also be required to participate in the DBS Update Service and pay the £13 cost per year. This is a condition of your employment and will need to be renewed annually. Note for Band 1 roles the Trust will pay for the cost of the DBS checks and will refund to you the cost of the update service.
