Surgical Wards Staff Nurse Band 5.
We have an opportunity to recruit Band 5 Staff Nurses,both with and without experience, to three of our surgical wards.
Frensham Ward is a 29 bedded mixed sex ward. The Gastrointestinal Unit at The Royal Surrey County Hospital is at the forefront of Oesophagogastric, hepatopancreaticobiliary surgery and is an International Training Centre for laparoscopic gastrointestinal and colorectal surgery. The Surgical Unit is part of the Regional Cancer Centre and as such the majority of patients on the ward are undergoing surgery for cancer.
Compton Ward is a 20 bedded mixed sex urology ward. The Royal Surrey County Hospital is at the forefront of urology service in the management of prostate cancer. You will be involved in caring for patients following treatments for oncological urology ranging from open and laparoscopic surgery and including the ground breaking green light laser treatment.
Elstead Ward is an 18 bedded female ward which specialises in breast and gynaecological surgery. Both specialities encompass a range of benign and oncology surgery including major breast surgery and reconstruction and pelvic surgery for gynaecological cancers. A small number of female upper gastrointestinal surgical patients are also cared for on the ward
Candidates with a particular specialist interest should indicate their ward preference on their application. Those who have a general surgical interest will be considered for all posts.
