Job Description


The UHB is a Smoke Free Health Board. Smoking is banned across all of the UHB sites. Staff are therefore not able to smoke in the hospital grounds or on any other UHB premises.

Cardiff Health Access Practice is looking to recruit an experienced Nurse to work within its small but dedicated team, providing screening and signposting service to Asylum Seekers. Within this role you will be required to:
- Undertake a range of nursing assessments and provide appropriate care / treatment in conjunction with the multi disciplinary team, as appropriate for the need, according to UHB policy, protocols, maintaining excellent clinical standards of nursing practice and staff development
- Improve standards of care and be involved in identifying service population needs by carrying out Initial health assessments, public health and sexual health screening where indicated, immunisation and vaccination, will be an essential part of the role. Knowledge of chronic disease management, Blood borne virus and some cultural awareness would be beneficial
- Carry out all relevant forms of care without direct supervision and to demonstrate procedures, supervise registered and/or unregistered staff whilst maintaining a safe working environment.

This is a permanent post although secondment would be considered with the consent of current line manager.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post
