CAMHS - ASC assessment (Clinical Psychologist, SALT , OT or Nurse)

Job Description

Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust specialises in working with people who are experiencing mental health difficulties and those with learning disabilities. As a Trust we make a positive difference to thousands of people’s lives across Sussex, Kent and Hampshire, providing support so that they can fulfil their potential and enjoy healthy lives.

We believe that staff who feel valued by the Trust and are truly engaged in the organisation deliver better outcomes for our patients and we are always looking for people with the right core values to join our team. The Trust is clinician-led, and provides the highest possible level of clinical expertise throughout its services.

Our vision is to provide outstanding care and treatment you can be confident in. To achieve the highest standards we have already embarked on a programme to transform the culture of the Trust to one of continuous improvement, delivered through participation of all staff and with service users, carers and families at the heart of our efforts.

Hampshire CAMHS (Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust) are looking to recruit to a Specialist ASC post (at a Band 6 or 7) in our Basingstoke team. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and enthusiastic Clinical Psychologist, Speech and Language Therapist, Occupational Therapist or Nurse to join in a thriving Specialist CAMHS team, with a specific focus on ASC assessment. This post would be ideal for a clinician who has a clear interest and skills in ASC, who would like to work within a multidisciplinary CAMHS team to provide evidence-based, NICE compliant assessments for children and young people with suspected social and communication difficulties.

We would also be interested in applications from any clinicians who have an interest in developing these skills, who can demonstrate how their core competencies could be adapted and honed with the support of additional training (provided by the Trust). Whilst the core role would encompass ASC assessment, input to parent support groups and multi-agency planning meetings, we would also consider applicants who might express an interest in combining this specialist work with a limited element of the more mental-health focused core CAMHS work. This exciting post is working within a friendly and innovative team with high levels of demand and complexity. To support your development and reflective practice you will receive regular supervision from a Senior member of your discipline and will have opportunities to link with other clinicians working in the ASC Pathway across Hampshire CAMHS. In addition you would be able to access a wide variety of training opportunities offered by Sussex Partnership Foundation Trust, including specialist trainings specific to the ASC population. While this is a full time post, a job share would be considered if two suitable candidates are identified. Banding will be decided on depending on experience.

We appreciate every application that we receive but regret that we are unable to advise every candidate if they have not been shortlisted. If you have not heard from us within three weeks of the closing date then it is probably the case that you have not been shortlisted, however this should not discourage you from applying again.

In the event of an excessive number of applicants the Trust does reserve the right to close this vacancy earlier than indicated.

Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust takes its responsibilities for the safeguarding and protection of children and young people and vulnerable adults very seriously and expects this of all its employees and bank workers. The Trust works with adult and children’s social care to ensure that the integrated service has systems in place to equip staff and bank workers with the knowledge and skills to recognize abuse, and take action to safeguard and protect vulnerable adults and children and young people.

It is expected that all staff and bank workers familiarise themselves with the appropriate structures and policies and with the Sussex child protection and safeguarding procedures and the Sussex multi-agency policy and procedures for safeguarding vulnerable adults and undertake the relevant essential training and further training appropriate to their role.

Successful candidates are normally offered salaries at the bottom of the relevant salary range. However, where previous or equivalent NHS experience in a similar role can be demonstrated and evidenced, this may be taken into consideration when setting the starting salary.

Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.

Tier 2 Certificate of Sponsorship (formerly a Work Permit)

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the Resident Labour Market Test. The UK Visas and Immigration department requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UK Visas and Immigration website.
