Job Description

At Rainbows, patient led care is at the centre of what we do, ensuring that our children and young people have fun, socialise and make the most of the time they have.

Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People is a 14 bedded hospice based in Loughborough, Leicestershire. We pride ourselves in delivering high standards of short breaks, symptom control, palliative and end of life care for children and young adults aged 0 to 30 years with life limiting and life threatening conditions and disabilities with complex care needs. We have a dedicated multi-disciplinary team who provide this holistic, family-centred care to children and young people across the East Midlands.

Care Team Members (relevant NVQ level 2 or 3 /NNEB essential)

Salary: £14,040 - £18,100

Hours: 75 hour shifts (0730 to 1500hrs and 1400 to 2130hrs) and night shifts (1930 – 0800hrs). We may also be able to accommodate people who predominately wish to work weekends.

We are looking for full or part time Care Team Members to join our expanding hospice team. Applicants must have experience of working with children, young people or young adults (0 – 30 years) with disabilities and / or complex health needs.

Reporting to the Deputy Matron and her Team Leaders, you will work as part of the Care Team supporting children/young adults and their families within the hospice setting.

You will work within a team under the direction of the shift coordinator and team leaders developing good relationships with families. You will liaise with them and the care team and other key agencies, to implement a plan of care to ensure the needs of the children/young adults are met, and promote continuity of care at all times. You will display kindness, compassion and enthusiasm for all children and young people accessing Rainbows and their families as well as exceptional team working skills.

You will have the opportunity to work with children and young people with a variety of complex care needs and develop skills in palliative and end of life care.

Your role will primarily involve meeting the day to day needs of the children/young adults providing holistic care and this will involve organising and participating in outings/activities, and supporting siblings.
