Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to recruit a full time Band 6 Learning Disability staff nurse to work in the West Hampshire Community Learning Disability Service.
You will primarily be working with people with a learning disability in the Totton, Waterside and New Forest areas, based at Totton initially. You will be one of the Band 6 community nurse team who cover the locality, with the other band 6 nurse based at Eastleigh. We work as one team, and have developed a forward thinking and innovative nursing team, with regular fortnightly meetings and opportunities for professional development.
We are looking for someone who can manage a caseload, which will include specialist and complex assessments and care planning. You will lead nursing care for all service users referred to the team, and supervise, mentor and teach both qualified and unqualified staff and students. You will report to the Locality Senior Nurse, and deputise for her when required. This post will give you the opportunity to contribute towards the management and leadership of the team on a daily basis. You will need to demonstrate strong leadership and inter-personal skills, excellent communication and presentation skills, be organised and self motivated. We see supervision and continuing professional development as important aspects of maintaining a quality service for people with a learning disability.
We are looking for a nurse who is keen to work within an integrated LD service that works in close partnership with all stakeholders across the county of Hampshire.
