Clinical Fellow in Cardiothoracic Surgery

£30,002 - £39,693 per annum plus banding supplement

We require a Clinical Fellow at CT1/2 level in Cardiothoracic Surgery, to be available from February 2017. The post holders will join a team of Foundation Year 2 and Core Surgical Trainee doctors with the opportunity to pursue their own research interests.

Papworth Hospital is an internationally recognised heart and lung hospital. Clinical services include the diagnosis, treatment and management of patients in three principal areas: Cardiology, Chest Medicine and Advanced Heart and Lung Failure, including Transplantation. We have an established reputation for innovative clinical developments underpinned by substantial research, development and education.

Papworth Hospital is the largest cardiothoracic centre in the UK with over 2000 cardiac surgical procedures performed per year. We provide local cardiothoracic services for the Eastern region and also specialist national services including cardiothoracic transplantation, ventricular assist devices, pulmonary endarterectomy and ECMO. Papworth’ s cardiology services include primary angioplasty, structural intervention, pacing and electrophysiology, imaging and heart failure. The clinical fellows gain broad core training experience in either cardiology or cardiothoracic surgery and previous Fellows have progressed to STR posts, formal research posts and attained NTNs at national selection. This post would be ideal for candidates looking for Cardiothoracic Surgical experience with a view to applying for ST1/2 training programs.

Applicants should have MBBS, GMC registration and completed foundation competencies. MRCS and/or previous cardiothoracic experience would be an advantage.
