King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust part of King's Health Partners Academic Health Sciences Centre (AHSC), is one of the UK’s largest and busiest teaching hospitals with a turnover of nearly £1 billion, 15 million patient contacts a year and more than 11,500 staff based across 5 main sites in South East London.
The Trust provides a full range of local hospital services across its different sites, and specialist services from King’s College Hospital (KCH) site in Camberwell and the Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH) site in Bromley.
Clinical Fellow in Cardiothoracic Surgery
This is a very innovative cardiac and thoracic unit based at King’s College Hospital providing a comprehensive local and tertiary referral service to South East London and Kent.
We have a particular interest in innovative cardiac surgical techniques and run one of the largest transapical/transfemoral transcatheter aortic valve programs in the UK. Other specific areas of expertise are arterial revascularisation, off-pump bypass surgery, mitral valve repair, aortic valve and aortic root repair, minimally invasive surgery for heart valve disease and atrial fibrillation surgery. We also provide thoracic surgery.
The Trust in partnership with King’s College London and 2 other NHS Foundations Trusts was recently accredited as one of the first of five Academic Health Sciences Centres in the UK. In addition to clinical excellence a strong focus is therefore placed on world class research and training. There is a major cardiovascular focus within the institution including a new £30 million research institute at King’s College Hospital and the recent establishment of a British Heart Foundation Centre of Research Excellence.

Please note the salary scale for this post is subject to change from August 2016 and will be confirmed to you once finalised. However, this will most likely be in accordance with the junior doctors salary scale implemented by the Trust from August 2016.
