Job Description

King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust part of King's Health Partners Academic Health Sciences Centre (AHSC), is one of the UK’s largest and busiest teaching hospitals with a turnover of nearly £1 billion, 15 million patient contacts a year and more than 11,500 staff based across 5 main sites in South East London.

The Trust provides a full range of local hospital services across its different sites, and specialist services from King’s College Hospital (KCH) site in Camberwell and the Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH) site in Bromley.

Clinical Fellow in Critical Care

We are seeking to recruit to clinical fellow posts within our critical care department at King's College Hospital, London. The successful candidates will work directly under the supervision of our critical care consultants in one of the largest critical care departments in the UK. The post holders will gain experience and training in multiple aspects of general and specialist intensive care medicine.

The post is open to ST3+ or equivalent doctors. The successful applicants will be part of one of 3 teams, each of 9 residents, in the Critical Care department. The residents are responsible for the day-to-day management of patients on each of the general units.

King’s College Hospital NHS Trust is one of the largest and busiest in London, with a well-established national and international reputation for clinical excellence, innovation and achievement.The hospital not only serves a diverse, multi-ethnic local population but operates as one of the four major trauma centres within the capital, a major trauma centre for Kent and as a tertiary services centre for neuroscience (including stroke), haematological oncology, cardiac / cardio-thoracic (including PAMI), cystic fibrosis, and hepatobiliary (including liver transplantation) patients. As a result, King’s critical care has an unrivalled patient population in terms of clinical diversity and complexity. The critical care service is one of the busiest in the UK with 5 adult intensive care units over two sites (Denmark Hill and Princess Royal University Hospital) receiving approximately 4000 admissions per year; an ongoing plan of expansion will make it the biggest in the UK with more than 100 Critical Care beds, supported by state-of-the-art design, technology and information systems.
