Clinical Fellow in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery (StR equivalent)
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Essex Oral & Facial Multidisciplinary Network to recruit a Clinical Fellow in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery. This post is available to start immediately and offers the opportunity for the appointee to be part of a developing oral & maxillofacial services network in Essex,
The enriched network relationship will allow for clinical activity to be concentrated at Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford with sessions and responsibilities at Colchester General and Southend University Hospitals. Broomfield Hospital will serve as the hub for the network with all emergency and inpatient activity taking place there. Broomfield Hospital also serves as the hub for Head and Neck Cancer Services in Essex of which the maxillofacial service is an integral part.
The new network provides an oral & maxillofacial surgery and orthodontic service to a population of approximately 13 million in North Essex (Colchester), Mid Essex (Chelmsford), South Essex (Basildon) and Southeast Essex (Southend).
The appointment will be for a Senior Clinical Fellow post in Maxillofacial Surgery for a fixed term of 12 months from commencement with a view to extend if mutually agreed. The out of hours (5pm -9am) on-call rota is 1 in 6, 2nd on call non-resident. The on-call requires the post holder to cover acute sites at Mid Essex Hospitals where all care is centralised out of hours. The rota is EWTD compliant. The post holder will take part in provision of care for the in-patients, perioperative care of patients undergoing surgery. The post-holder will have opportunity to gain Maxillofacial experience in both clinics and theatre, as well as regularly participating in audit and publications.
There is excellent opportunity to participate in training, research and audits in the Department.
Candidates must be hold a dental qualification and be eligible for full registration with the General Dental Council. Candidates who hold a medical degree with full GMC registration with a license to practice and have qualified with a dental degree on their way to full training in oral & maxillofacial surgery will also benefit immensely from the experience offered by this position and would be welcome to apply.
