Clinical Governance Manager

Job Description


Main responsibilities:

  • Responsibility for maintaining an overview of compliance with Care Quality Commission through all departments.Notification of reportable incidents to Care Quality Commission.

  • Co-ordination of action plans arising from external inspections and audits, e.g. CQC, CCG, SGS, HTA. Submission of action plans to relevant bodies and regular review of action plans to relevant bodies and regular review of action plans to ensure compliance.

  • Co-ordinate Any Willing Provider Contract reporting requirements to CCG’s.

  • Co-ordinate the Clinical Effectiveness Committee and produce quarterly and annual governance reports and associated action plans.

  • Co-ordinate clinical scorecard activity – collection and submission of data requested, sharing of results and collation of action plans to submit each quarter.

  • To co-ordinate and manage risk management activities including clinical accident and near miss investigation and action plans, clinical alerts and professional guidance, NCEPOD etc.

  • Ensure SMT are fully informed of emerging trends and resulting actions.

  • To co-ordinate and manage clinical audit programme and PROMS across the hospital in line with national audit programme and local requirements.

  • Management of RMO’s provided by MERCO including approval of CV’s, induction and performance reviews and support as required.

  • Ensure other clinical committees, e.g. Transfusion, Infection Control, meet as required and ensure action plans are delivered in a timely manner.


Working hours:

37.5 hours

Essential qualifications and training required:

  • Educated to A level standard or equivalent, the job holder will have in depth experience of healthcare.A clinical qualification would be an advantage but is not essential


Essential experience required:

  • A resilient and empathetic team player, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to achieve results through others outside of direct reporting lines.A high level of communication skills both written and verbal is necessary.

  • The role demands a hands-on, proactive approach with the ability to initiate and handle change in complex environment.A professional attitude, with a concern for accuracy, confidentiality and service is essential together with the ability to deal with ever-changing priorities.
