Job Description

St. George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the regional specialist care provider for south west London, Surrey and beyond. The trust provides a high quality, comprehensive range of health services from leading edge tertiary and trauma care to community services, delivered from 2 hospital sites, St.George’s Hospital in Tooting and Queen Mary’s Hospital in Roehampton, and from St John’s Therapy Centre, 11 health centres and clinics, schools, nursing homes and people’s own homes. The trust also manages the healthcare service at HMP Wandsworth. With national and regional referrals added to our local 35m catchment, we serve a population of around 5m. As well as acute hospital services, St George’s Healthcare provides a wide variety of specialist and community hospital based care and a full range of community services to children, adults, older people and people with learning disabilities. These services are provided from Queen Mary’s Hospital, Roehampton, 11 health centres and clinics, schools and nurseries, patients’ homes and Wandsworth Prison. We employ 8,000 staff, have an annual income of c£620m, around 1,100 beds and we serve a population of 13 million across south west London.

Due to expansion of our theatres, we currently have 3 vacancies to join our department and are looking to appoint Clinical Perfusion Scientists to join our progressive team. Applications are invited from dynamic, self-motivated and hardworking individuals. We are a well-respected and friendly department that achieves our high standards through a supportive atmosphere and strong teamwork. Applicants should be committed to developing their skills and gaining experienced in a wide range of adult perfusion techniques and blood conservation methods. For the qualified post, an interest or experience in mini-bypass is desirable but not essential.

To apply you must be accredited by the Society of Clinical Perfusion Scientists of Great Britain and Ireland and registered with the College of Clinical Perfusion Scientists of Great Britain and Ireland. Applications will also be accepted from current second year trainees or individuals who are taking their practical and viva exam imminently. There will be an on call commitment to fulfill which is shared between our team of 8 perfusionists.

St. Georges is ideally located in Tooting, South West London with excellent public transport links into central London (25 mins), great routes out of London and a multitude of cycle paths. Convenient for nearby Wimbledon and Clapham, Tooting is a bustling town offering not only restaurants and bars but parks, commons and a range of gyms and swimming pools.
