About The Facility

The Christie Clinic is a HCA/NHS joint Venture with The Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester. The Christie is an impressive and well-respected NHS Trust which is a European cancer centre providing advanced cancer care and housing the world's largest early clinical trials unit. The Christie Clinic builds on these services and provides state-of-the-art private patient facilities in the £35 million Oak Road patient treatment centre. There are continuing redevelopment works to extend both inpatient and outpatient facilities at The Christie Clinic.

Job Description

The Clinical Services Manager will be a key member of the management team. This role will be a supportive visionary lead for operational and financial performance working closely with the Cheif Operating Officer, to take responsibility for the clinical department's performance, compliance with health and safety, quality, governance, policies and procedures. This will include establishing a culture that ensures consistent compliance with internal corporate policy and external regulatory standards across the facility, through monitoring and driving improvements on clinical indicators. Further duties will include the maintenance of a well-motivated and highly trained nursing and allied services team, and continued development of all staff within the area of responsibility, is of optimum importance in this role.

This is a full time permanent position of 37.5 Hours over 5 days which attracts a competitive salary, plus a range of exclusive employee benefits. Some weekend work may be required.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage the successful implementation of key central and local business and clinical operational initiatives
  • Contribute to the hospital growth targets, identifying business development opportunities and project managing to successful implementation.
  • Lead discussion with existing consultants to drive the effective utilisation of facilities and assets
  • Devise and manage an effective staff resource plan to provide cost effective labour, covering staff skills ratios, use of bank and agency staff, and external recruitment.
  • Manage the delivery of a consistent, safe service in all aspects of the patient journey, and instil a culture of high quality customer service throughout all clinical departments.
  • Monitor effectiveness / success via patient satisfaction indicators, clinical incidents and complaints, and take action to deliver improvements.
  • Compile business cases that safeguards clinical standards and drive performance. Drafting service provision strategy and objectives for a specialist area/department, aligned to overall functional and facility strategic and patient care goals.
  • Provide the Chief Operating Officer with clinical departmental goals and objectives on an annual basis and monitor their achievement throughout the year.
  • Work in collaboration with Human Resources and Resourcing regarding employee engagement, performance, delivery, training and recruitment.
  • Attend local, regional and national meetings and committees as appropriate.
  • Provides clinical development support to additional NW HCA Facilities where required.

Skills & Experience

  • Professional Clinical Registration with ability to practice
  • Substantial clinical management experience post-qualification, including experience of team leadership and strategic management.
  • Knowledge and experience of the Care Standards Act and CQC Requirements
  • Knowledge of clinical training standards, clinical audits and investigations.
  • High level of commercial awareness

About The Individual

Will need to show evidence of contributing to facility-wide strategic decision-making and drive the commercial performance of clinical services. Demonstrate ability to manage and revise operational procedures to deliver efficiencies, savings and revenue generation. Be able to work across HCA Joint Ventures Sites.
