Community Hospital Radiographer

Job Description

The RD&E NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a radiographer to assist in providing a first class radiography service across its 7 community x-ray units in East and Mid Devon. The successful applicant will be required to work flexibly across as many or few units as required to ensure a quality, timely service. The units are based in the respective community hospitals where the radiographer will be part of the hospital team and work closely with nursing and medical staff to provide both a booked and non-booked service to local GPs and to support the minor injuries units, outpatients and inpatient services. The annual volume of plain x-rays is in the region of 30,000 across all units. You will be required to work single handed at the unit but will have the support of the superintendent radiographer, Consultant Radiologists at the RD&E Hospital and colleagues in the other community units.

The units to be covered are Axminster and Tiverton on a regular weekly basis. However, the postholder will also be required to provide annual leave and sickness cover at these units and for existing radiographers at the Exmouth, Honiton, Ottery St. Mary, Sidmouth and Okehampton units. Additionally, the unit at Tiverton is open at the week-ends and on Bank Holidays for 4 hours each day and the postholder will be expected to work these sessions on a rotational basis. The units at Honiton, Ottery, Sidmouth and Okehampton are open part-time throughout the week days and therefore there will be a requirement to travel from one to the other to provide the service.

Our vision is to provide safe, high quality seamless services delivered with courtesy and respect. To achieve our vision we expect all our staff to uphold our Trust values. Our Trust values are:
Honesty, Openness & Integrity
Inclusion & Collaboration
Respect & Dignity

***Preference will be given to staff with ‘Priority’ and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon.**

In submitting an application form you authorise the Royal Devon & Exeter NHS Foundation Trust to confirm any previous NHS service details via the Electronic Staff Record Inter Authority Transfer process, should you be appointed to the post.

The Royal Devon & Exeter NHS Foundation Trust will contact previous employers to confirm employment history to cover a period of at least 3 years. The Trust is only able accept written references; these will be requested via email. One of your referees must be your current line manager and all references must cover the previous three years work or study history.

Tier 2 Certificate of Sponsorship (formerly a Work Permit):
Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the Resident Labour Market Test. The UK Border Agency requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit UK Border Agency website.
