Redbridge Integrated Care Directorate invites applications for the post of Band 6 Mental Health Nurse Practitioner within the Access, Assessment and Brief Intervention Team. This multi-disciplinary mental health team includes Psychiatrists, Mental Health Nurses, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Support Workers and administrative / clerical staff. We work closely with a range of statutory and voluntary partners such as inpatient services, Home Treatment Teams, specialist drug and alcohol services, personality disorder services and psychological therapies.

The Redbridge Access, Assessment and Brief Intervention Team provide a single point of access to adult Mental Health Services in the borough. The team provides assessment and advice and acts as a signposting service to other teams and organisations as appropriate. They offer short term individual interventions and groups for service users aimed towards recovery and independence.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible individual who has a passion for supporting service users with mental health conditions on their recovery journey. As a team, we embrace and promote the Recovery Model and expect our staff to be familiar with and work within the model; working with Service Users within their homes, the wider community and clinical settings.

Essential criteria for this post include:

Current effective status on the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Register Part 1 – Registered Nurse (Mental Health)
Excellent communication skills
Excellent time management and organisational skills

The main responsibilities of the post:

To support the Access Team functions as and when necessary, i.e. working within the duty team, facilitating groups and/or key working of individual service users.

To undertake telephone screening/triage of individuals referred to the service.

To undertake assessment of service user’s mental health; this will include assessing service users within their own home as well as on hospital sites.

To carry a caseload of service users for brief intervention and key working.

To supervise junior grade nursing staff and students as required.

To liaise with other mental health services, social care teams, statutory and third sector organisations as required.

To support the functioning of the Wellness Clinic, carrying out physical health checks and provision of depot injections.

To act as appropriate adult when necessary.

High Cost Area Supplement - London
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £3,518 to a maximum of £4,483).
