Job Description

Role - Complex Care Assistant required to care for children & adults with complex health needs living in in their own home

Location – Truro and locations across Cornwall

Pay - £7.58 - £13.50/hour holiday pay

Shift – All shifts available. Days / Night / Weekend

Working in Complex Care Assistant job, you will provide essential care and support to children & adults in their own homes, living with a range of complex healthcare needs. It is essential that you have worked in similar environments previously, having moving and handling training and are able to work well under pressure.

You will have gained experience through working with any of the following;-

  • Tracheostomy
  • Ventilator
  • PEG
  • Brain Injury
  • Spinal Injury
  • Learning Disability
  • Degenerative Medical Conditions (such as Motor Neurone Disease).

Within your role you will be responsible for assisting with key health provision functions, including administering medication, pain relief and various domestic and healthcare tasks to assist the service users with day to day living. Our person centred service is designed to enable the service users to interact with their families and also the local community, enabling them to maximise their independence and live fulfilling lives.

You will form an integral part of the Newcross Care at Home team in this varied and rewarding role, delivering person-centred care in accordance with personalised care plans that enrich lives.

You will have access to comprehensive training and 24 hour support, and in order to ensure that you always have enough work you will be employed on a permanent, flexible contract with guaranteed hours. Due to the nature of this role, access to your own transport is essential.

Upon joining, you’ll receive a full in-house induction as well as an introduction to the client you will be supporting, their needs and care plan. You’ll receive any training necessary to top up your skills, including a shadow shift if required.

To be considered for this role you must have:

  • The ability to prove your right to live and work in the UK
  • At least 3 months’ previous paid experience working in a complex care environment in the UK within the last 3 years
  • Referee contact details for your current place of work, including a manager who can comment on your clinical ability, and for all employments in the past 18 months or your 3 most recent jobs
  • NVQ2 / SVQ2 in Health and Social Care
  • Suitable moving and handling training
