Locum Consultant Respiratory Medicine

Applications are invited for two Locum Consultants in Respiratory & General Medicine at George Eliot Hospitals NHS Trust (GEH). These posts are available for a minimum of 12 month whilst we are recruiting to a permanent post and also cover a period of maternity leave. These posts form part of a team of 4 consultant respiratory physicians who will deliver a specialist respiratory service for inpatients and outpatients at the George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust. The team also supports the local community respiratory services linking with community-based respiratory nurses, matrons and physiotherapists. The department also wishes to deliver a 6 day service for inpatients with respiratory illness.

George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust is an integrated acute, community and primary care service provider comprising George Eliot Hospital in Nuneaton, North Warwickshire and a number of community services including Community Dental Services & Sexual Health Services for Warwickshire.

George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust is located in Nuneaton which is the largest town in Warwickshire and birth place of theauthor George Eliot. Nuneaton is situated 9 miles (14 km) north of Coventry and 20 miles (32 km) east of Birmingham and serves a population of about 290,000 from Nuneaton & Bedworth, North Warwickshire, South West Leicestershire and Northern Coventry between the major hospitals in Coventry, Leicester and East Birmingham.

George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust is a healthcare provider based in Nuneaton that provides a range of hospital and community based care across the whole of Warwickshire as well as South West Leicestershire.

The Trust operates out of the George Eliot Hospital based on the outskirts of the town in North Warwickshire. This hospital provides a range of medical, surgical, women’s and children’s services including accident and emergency, maternity and cancer services.

Community services operate across the whole of Warwickshire and include Smoking Cessation and Specialist Dentistry. The Trust also runs Tuberculosis Services for Coventry and Warwickshire.

The Trust shares resources and expertise through several clinical networks for services such as cancer care, coronary heart disease, pathology and women’s and children’s services.

In response to NICE guidance and to support the reduction of health harm from tobacco, the Trust has a smoke-free site policy which applies to anyone on Trust sites. Staff who smoke will be supported to quit or not smoke whilst on Trust sites.
