Derriford Hospital, a large University Teaching Hospital and Major Trauma Centre in Plymouth, Devon, is seeking a replacement Breast and General Radiologist to join a team of 4 other Breast Radiologists providing symptomatic and breast screening radiology. The general radiology work would include plain film, CT and ultrasound sessions, although other interests could be accommodated. The Breast Unit is a modern, forward-looking unit with prone-table vacuum biopsy for calcium, Tomosynthesis and active research projects. We were early adopters of full field digital mammography. A charity supports us allowing us to pursue cutting edge breast imaging. We have a Radiology Academy, one of only 3 in the UK, attached to the Radiology Department, which supports 60 Radiology Registrars rotating through 5 Hospitals in the training scheme.
The department employs 36 Radiology Consultants. The applicant would participate in a 1 in 16 general on-call rota.
The successful applicant will be a keen breast radiologist with an enthusiasm to continuously improve and innovate, and who is seeking a supportive and well-run department in a beautiful part of the world.
