Consultant Cardiologist with interests in heart failure and echocardiography
Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust has recently become a pioneering Integrated Care Organisation and has a deserved reputation for innovation and excellence winning the HSJ Hospital of the Year Award in 2012.
We are seeking to appoint a Consultant Cardiologist to fill a post vacated by retirement. The successful applicant would join another non-interventional consultant in providing in-patient care for general cardiology patients with an emphasis on heart failure. Interests in echocardiography or other types of cardiac imaging would be welcome. The post currently includes regular ACHD Clinics which could also be maintained for an appropriately trained applicant. There are, in addition, four interventional cardiologists who provide in-patient care for CCU, a cardiology on-call service and 24/7 primary PCI.
This post does not include commitment to the cardiology or general medical on-call rotas. In line with the drive towards seven day working however, it is likely that some weekend working will become required in the future.
All applicants must be in possession of the essential qualifications for the post, as set out in the person specification by the time interviews take place.
The location is one of the UK’s most beautiful areas with easy access to the region’s top beaches, Dartmoor, the South West Coast Path, walking, sailing, water sports, cycling and mountain biking. There are also a number of outstanding schools. There are good road and rail connections to the rest of the country.
