The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust is looking to recruit a Consultant Cellular Pathologist.

This is a replacement post. A whole time Consultant Cellular Pathologist is required to meet the demands of increasing workload and complexity to be part of a team of six consultants. The department is part of the East of England training rotation and has two Specialist Registrars in training at any one time.

The Department of Cellular Pathology is a busy CPA accredited department that supports many multidisciplinary teams for cancer specialists including breast, colorectal, lung, urology, gynaecology, head and neck and haematology. The department reports approximately 22,000 histology specimens and 3,500 non gynaecological cytology cases per year.

Candidates should have a wide range of experience in histopathology, cytology and autopsy. Sub specialisation is in place and the successful applicant will be expected to develop sub-specialty interests within branches of histopathology to complement those of the existing consultants.

The candidate should have full GMC registration and be on the Histopathologist Specialist Register or within 6 months of attaining your CCT or equivalent at interview stage. In addition prospective candidates you should hold the FRCPath or equivalent higher professional qualification.

What we can offer

As a Trust we also provide a 5% High Cost Area Supplement (HCAS) added to the basic salary of all Agenda for Change positions. HCAS IS NOT PAYABLE TO VERY SENIOR MANAGER POSTS. There is a minimum and maximum payment of £951 - £1649. If you work part time the supplement will be based on your part time salary. Medical and Dental positions receive an additional Fringe London Weighting (FLW) supplement of £149 added to the basic salary.

All new staff joining Princess Alexandra Hospital will be subject to a probation period of 6 months.
