Consultant in Adolescent Psychiatry at Leigh House Hospital (Tier 4 CAMHS Unit). Maximum Part-time 9 PAs
This exciting opportunity has arisen following the retirement of the previous post holder. The post is based at Leigh House Hospital, Adolescent Psychiatric Unit, which is a well-established open psychiatric unit, situated in a rural location on the edge of historic Winchester. Commissioned by NHS England, the service provides assessment and inpatient treatment for up to 21 young people aged between 13 and 18 years, who are experiencing a wide range of psychiatric disorders, including psychotic and depressive and anxiety disorders. Up to 10 of the inpatients are young people with severe eating disorders supported by our well established Family Group Program.
The successful applicant will join Dr Sara Kakhi (9 PAs Consultant in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry), and work within Leigh House’s comprehensive multi-disciplinary team, which includes, in addition to experienced nursing staff and a nursing lead for the management of Eating Disorders; an associate Specialist, a specialty doctor, a family therapist, a psychology team, occupational therapy team and a full time social worker. There is a fully staffed school on the premises and post 16 educational support. The medical team supports an ST and CT post with plans for 2 medical students from Southampton University Medical School to join the service in 2017 on a rotational basis.
Applicants must have or be within six months of achieving a Certificate of Specialist Training and should have at least five years’ experience in psychiatry with a minimum of three years appropriate higher professional training, one year of which should be in adolescent psychiatry. Applicants should be Approved Clinicians under the Mental Health Act 1983 (as amended). An interest and experience in research, and education will be viewed as additional attributes.
