Consultant Dermatologist

Job Description

Applications are invited for the post of Consultant Dermatologist with East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. This is a 10 PA post, but applications wishing to work part-time will be considered.

We require two substantive Dermatology Consultant posts based at the East & North Herts Trust. These posts are newly created positions as part of our current plans to establish a new Dermatology centre of excellence at Hertford County Hospital (where all Dermatology outpatient services will be eventually based) and to further compliment the current service and broaden the specialist services provided by the department.

They will form part of a programme of departmental expansion that will provide a substantial increase in consultant sessions within the Trust and is an extremely exciting opportunity to greatly enhance and extend the Dermatology provision within East & North Herts.

The post-holders will join an existing team of two Dermatologists and one GP with a special interest in Dermatology. There are two Dermatology Specialist Nurses in these posts, with plans to recruit additional nurse specialists as part of the centralisation/expansion. Options exist for affiliating the position with Regional Cancer Services and the Mount Vernon Specialist Cancer team, depending on the appointee’s interests and qualifications. We have both regional Plastic Surgery and Renal units at The Lister site with considerable opportunity to evolve services with these departments.
We would like to encourage applicants with interests in Paediatric Dermatology, psoriasis (biologics), autoimmune diseases and contact dermatitis. The ability to undertake biopsies and minor operations are essential criteria for these positions.

The successful candidate will be involved in reshaping the way dermatological care is provided to our patients, with the aim of providing a high-quality, evidence-based, patient centred service. We would welcome the new colleague developing a subspecialty interest.

***A Recruitment and Retention premia of £10,000 is offered for this post***
