Consultant (Dermatology) – North Lincolnshire

Our vacancy

We are Virgin Care and we operate a Community Dermatology Service in North Lincolnshire. Our aim is to make a real difference to the lives of local people living within our community, providing them with the very best care. At the Ironstone Centre in Scunthorpe we’re recruiting a Consultant to join the team

We focus on patient experience and clinical outcomes in equal measure and actively encourage innovation and new ways of working. We require 1-4 four hour sessions per week and in return you will benefit from working with and learning from a close-knit consultant-led team. There are further development opportunities if you wish to take them in the form of involvement in cancer treatments, clinical governance and complex minor surgery

With the support of a service manager we will leave you to do what you do best which is caring for our patients and ensuring you fully utilise your advanced clinical skills alongside a lead and three consultant as well as a GPwSI trainee and nurse specialists. In this role you will also:

  • Undertake new and follow up consultations including a full assessment of the medical condition, the patient’s concerns and expectations
  • Follow care pathways and prescribe appropriate treatments
  • Communicate fully with patient and carers involving them in treatment decisions
  • Complete follow up actions and paperwork
  • Take responsibility for seeing and taking action on all results, including writing to the GP and patient
  • Undertake appropriate surgical procedures in line with abilities
  • Work with team members to deliver a high quality, patient-centred service with a flexible approach to work
  • Participate in audit, evaluation, teaching, training and clinical governance
  • Comply with GMC standards of Good Medical Practice


The qualities we are looking for in applicants are:

  • GPVTS trained or equivalent
  • Diploma in Dermatology
  • On the specialist register as a consultant in dermatology
  • Working currently in secondary care or community care
  • Demonstrates clarity in written and spoken communication
  • Good interpersonal skills, courteous to patients and staff at all times
  • Enthusiastic team player
