An exciting opportunity has arisen and applications are invited for the post of a third whole time Consultant Dermatologist to work in the Dermatology department at Chesterfield Royal Hospital. The successful applicant will join a successful and dynamic team which also includes a specialty doctor, clinical assistant and dedicated nursing team. There are specialty nurses in skin cancer and inflammatory disease and 5 nurse led surgical lists per week.
A group of 5 highly experienced GPSIs have recently started a community based dermatology service which is fully integrated with our service. In addition we provide a weekly clinic at the Whitworth hospital in Darley Dale.
The outpatient department has facilities for phototherapy, patch testing, dressings, PDT and diphencyprone. There are 2 well equipped operating rooms which support a strong surgical interest in the department. We treat 95% of all the patients seen with skin cancer. Most of the remaining cases are treated by colleagues in other departments of the hospital and a small number are managed in the department of Plastic Surgery in Sheffield. The other special interests of the department are paediatric dermatology and hair disease. We train a maxillofacial StR in aspects of skin surgery, take a Dermatology StR on rotation and have a regular allocation of medical students. Our research interests are fully supported by the hospital R&D department. We are looking for a dynamic colleague to enhance our services and would favour someone with a special interest to compliment those of the current service. Inpatients are managed on the medical wards with their day to day care provided by the ward team.
Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is a modern, well equipped, District General Hospital of approximately 494 beds, serving a population of 375,000 in North Derbyshire. The Medical Unit comprises eight medical wards with 251+ beds.
