CONSULTANT PHYSICIAN IN DIABETES, ENDOCRINOLOGY AND GENERAL INTERNAL MEDICINE

Peterborough and Stamford Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint new a Consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology and General Internal Medicine. The Diabetes Care Team is based at a purpose built Diabetes Care Centre the Peterborough Healthy Living Centre. We have three inpatient Diabetes Specialist Nurses. We have group structured education programmes for patients with both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. Peterborough is a founder member of the DESMOND project and is part of the Diabetes Education Network. We run a continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion service for both adult and paediatric patients. We also provide a number of Consultant led specialty clinics in both diabetes and endocrinology. Thyroid ultrasound and isotope scanning are also available on site. In addition to thyroid surgery there is a service for minimally-invasive parathyroid surgery. The radio-iodine therapy service for non-malignant thyroid conditions is supervised locally by Dr Oyibo. We have a full range of endocrine investigations available.
This is a new post to allow the opportunity to combine providing a service in diabetes and endocrinology and general internal medicine in a brand new state-of-the-art hospital and purpose built community diabetes centre. You will join our existing teams of Consultant Diabetologists and Endocrinologists and other Consultant Physicians at Peterborough and Stamford Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The post holder will be based at the Peterborough and Stamford Hospital NHS Trust. All on-call and inpatient service delivery will be based at this site. The post holder, along with colleagues, will also assist in the delivery of a weekly outpatient diabetes service at the Healthy Living Centre.
