Consultant General Surgeon with an
Interest in Emergency Surgery
based at the QEQM Hospital, Margate, Kent
This is a great opportunity for candidates to apply for these two new full time substantive consultant posts in General Surgery with an interest in Emergency Surgery that is immediately required/available at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust based at the QEQM Hospital, Margate, Kent. Department is currently supported by five substantive Colorectal, one Upper GI, two Breast Surgeons and one emergency surgeons and three locum emergency surgeons. Due to the change in the emergency model of care and the non GI Surgeon coming off the on-call rota, the department, like many other units in the country is adopting an Emergency Surgeon model of care. Department also has the capacity to provide the post holder the opportunity of elective subspecialist interests in either Colorectal Surgery, Upper GI Surgery, Day Surgery, Endoscopy and/or Education and Training. The two Emergency Surgeons will receive full support from the subspecialist teams. This will initially be a 10 PA post with the scope of higher PA following negotiation and mutual agreement.
Applicants should have a CCT or be on the Specialist Register. Applicants who are within six months of obtaining their CCT are also eligible to apply.
