We are seeking to attract a number of Consultants to join our existing team here in York with the aim of providing the successful applicants with a rewarding and sustainable career in a challenging and exciting specialty.
In recognition of the unique difficulties involved in working in this environment we seek to offer a well remunerated job plan that allows the post holder to balance challenging professional obligations with a sustainable work-life balance.
Successful applicants will start on a 1 in 5 overall weekend shift pattern working either a day time, mid or a late and on-call shift-such that commitments to the late shift and on-call at weekends would only be on a 1 in 15 frequency.
A generous retention premium is offered together with up to 2 PAs of time, in addition to agreed SPAs, that can be allocated to support and pursue individual special interests which augment the work and function of the ED. Currently these are allocated to Consultants pursuing interest in Deanery work, Major Trauma, Paediatrics, Simulation Training and Ambulatory Care interests.
Acknowledging the difficulties of recruitment and balancing this with a long term vision of the service we are interested in discussing potential vacancies with trainees whom may be within 2 yearsof attaining a CCT in Emergency Medicine. Equally, we would welcome expression of interest from established Consultants whom ayaspire to relocate to York to seek new personal developmental opportunities.
These posts offer an exciting opportunity for individuals to expand their own areas of interest and help build and shape an Emergency Service that can survive the rigours of the coming years and offer a sustainable career pathway to its Consultant workforce.
The recruitment programme for this position will take place over two days, to include an assessment centre and interview. The assessment centre will constitute 3 exercises, of which, at least two should be passed successfully in order to progress through to interview. We will ensure successfully shortlisted candidates receive sufficient notice to attend these days.
