Consultant in Emergency and General Surgery Barnet Hospital

An exciting opportunity has arisen for substantive appointments at The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust to work at principally at the Barnet Hospital and Chase Farm Hospital sites as part of the emergency and general surgery unit. Candidates should be capable of leading a general emergency surgical on-call with the required training in the clinical, open and laparoscopic surgical skills to deliver this. The on-call commitment is 1 in 12.

The remaining job plan will deliver elective general surgery (1 OPA, 1 operating, 1 endoscopy session and another flexible session). Upper GI, Lower GI and Hepatobiliary subspecialty skills can be accommodated alongside general surgery. Laparoscopic and endoscopic skills are required.

Barnet Hospital is part of a combined trust including Chase Farm and the Royal Free Hospitals. Successful candidates will have opportunities for cross site elective working.

To apply for this post, candidates must demonstrate eligibility for Full UK GMC registration and entry onto the GMC Specialist Register or equivalent. This is a 10 + 1 PA’s job plan to be reviewed annually.
