We provide hospital and community based services to people living in Rhondda Cynon Taf and Merthyr Tydfil. Our vision is to care for our communities and patients by preventing ill-health, promoting better health, providing excellent services and reducing the need for inpatient care wherever possible through the provision of strengthened home, primary and community care.
The post of Consultant Psychiatrist provides specialist psychiatric expertise to the Merthyr Tydfil CMHT and the Primary Mental Health Support Service (PMHSS) established under the Mental Health (Wales) Measure 2010. The post holder will be expected to manage a caseload of complex and stable patients as care coordinator under Part 2 of the Measure.
The post holder will be managerially responsible to the Clinical Director, Mental Health, and professionally responsible to the Medical Director. The post holder will be required to work closely with senior medical colleagues in both District General Hospitals and in Mental Health as appropriate and to liaise with other senior clinicians within and beyond the UHB as and when necessary.
The post will be based at the Keir Hardie Health Park, Merthyr Tydfil; inpatient beds are at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital, Llantrisant. The post holder will be expected to work at other Health Board premises and at other sites within the district as required.
