Public Health & Intelligence Consultant in Public Health Medicine Fixed Term Secondment or Locum– 1 year Medical/Dental - Consultant Salary Scale – £77,529 - £104,525 pro rata Hours – 16 Location – Gyle Square, Edinburgh Post Reference – G78228 Information Services (ISD), part of Public Health and Intelligence (PHI), NHS National Services Scotland (NSS), collects, validates, interprets and disseminates health and health service information and intelligence for Scotland. Scotland has some of the best health service data in the world, with information that combines high quality data, consistency, national coverage and the ability to link data to allow patient based analysis and follow up. PHI is a multidisciplinary organisation that includes responsibility for information and health protection services for Scotland. This post provides a unique opportunity to develop a national role in relation to reproductive health information: • providing medical and public health advice on the collection, analysis and interpretation of routinely collected information within Scotland; • supporting developments to ensure that the general clinical and public health information needs in Scotland are being met; and • contributing to UK and European work on reproductive health. You will provide: • clinical and public health support for the development of information for maternal and sexual health; • expert medical and public health advice to support the interpretation and presentation of routine information and intelligence. In addition there is scope to develop your interests in areas such as research. The post is available as a secondment opportunity or as a locum appointment for 2 days per week (04 WTE) for one year in the first instance. You will be medically qualified with full GMC registration. For the secondment role you will be on the GMC Specialist Register in Public Health or within 6 months of inclusion on the Register at the expected date of appointment. For the locum consultant role you will have full GMC registration with appropriate experience in public health medicine or other relevant specialty.
