Applications are invited for the post of Consultant in Oral Surgery & Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) at the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro. This a 10 PA post with an option to negotiate up to 12 PA’s
The successful applicant will support the dynamic delivery of growing Maxillo-Facial and oral surgery services to the population of Cornwall. The post will be based in the dedicated maxillo-facial, oral surgery and orthodontics unit at RCH, in Truro providing an exciting opportunity to work within a committed team, alongside 3 Consultants in Maxillo-Facial & Oral Surgery and 1 Consultant Orthodontist, a strong team of staff grade and junior doctors, nursing and administration staff. There will be a requirement to undertake clinical duties at West Cornwall Hospital, St Michael’s Hospital and other locations across the county.
Cornwall is a beautiful county which offers an outstanding quality of life and providing many opportunities for outdoor activities, with its sailing waters, surfing beaches and rugged coastal pathways for walking, and cycling. There is a thriving arts and theatre scene as well as an interesting variety of eating places, including celebrity-owned restaurants within Cornwall. The major route both in and out of the county is the A30 which connects with the M5 motorway at Exeter. There is an excellent rail service with daily passenger and sleeper services, and an airport at Newquay with daily connections to many cities throughout the UK and abroad.
Applicants are expected to have experience of orthognathic and skin cancer surgery and be able to manage busy adult and paediatric outpatient and operating lists. The post requires strong team working, both at consultant level and with the wider multi-disciplinary team.
You will be fully registered with the GDC/GMC. Applicants are required to be on the GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of their expected date of receipt of CCT or equivalent at the time of interview.
