The Trust is also involved in a number of collaborations in research and innovation with the Institute of Mental Health, the University of Nottingham and other partners.

Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry - Acute Inpatient Service, with Crisis Response and Home Treatment, plus Clinical Lead for ECT Clinic

With a turnover of £444 million, Nottinghamshire NHS Foundation Trust provides a comprehensive range of services spanning mental health, intellectual disability, community physical health and prison health, as well as low, medium and high secure hospitals, including Rampton Hospital. We operate from more than 100 sites, with 8,800 highly trained and capable staff, and we are ready to go the extra mile to improve the patient experience. Research and innovation is at the heart of everything we do, and our partnerships with the Institute of Mental Health, the University of Nottingham and other stakeholders constantly redefine best practice.

You will operate from the Millbrook unit at King’s Mill Hospital: a purpose-built facility with a five-bedded psychiatric intensive care unit and a 136 suite. Providing daily cover for patients from the Ashfield area and beyond, you will work closely with a nursing ward manager, clinical team leaders, staff nurses, healthcare assistants and occupational therapists to deal with a diverse caseload. Your responsibility will span acute referrals, short-term home treatment, discharges and moves from acute care plus follow-up, and you will also provide clinical leadership to the ECT Clinic, which has been rated as excellent by the ECT Accreditation Service of the Royal College of Psychiatrists.

To be equal to the challenge, you will require membership of the Royal College plus Approved Higher Training in General Adult Psychiatry. In addition, you should hold a CCT or be within six months of attaining this at the time of interview, or alternatively be eligible for entry onto the Specialist Register in General Adult Psychiatry. Finally, Section 12 approval is essential as Mental Health Act Assessments will be part of your role.
