Consultant in Neurophysiology

(10 PA’s)

We would like to invite applications for this full time, substantive post of Consultant Neurophysiologist based in Liverpool, Merseyside. This is an excellent opportunity to join the only dedicated Neuroscience Centre in the country. The Walton Centre enjoys an international reputation for high quality clinical care and research in epilepsy including surgical management of refractory cases, motor neurone disease, neuromuscular junction disorders, peripheral nerve disorders and pain management amongst others. We serve a population of 35 million and are regularly referred patients from further afield such as Cumbria and Northern Ireland.

The Neurophysiology department is part of the Neurology directorate and offers a wide range of services including long term EEG monitoring such as surface and intracranial video telemetry and ambulatory EEG. We are currently involved in expansion of our services including opening a fourth video telemetry bed and a novel video home ambulatory service. We routinely offer Nerve conduction studies/EMG including complex cases, Single-fibre EMG, Sleep studies (Multi sleep latency test/Polysomnography) and evoked potentials. We also have an active Intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring service offering evoked potential monitoring for cortical, brainstem and spinal surgeries.

In order to be considered for this position is it essential for candidates to have clinical training & experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCT in Neurophysiology, be eligible for entry on GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at time of interview, hold MBBS/MBCH and possess MRCP.
