Consultant Neuroradiology applications are invited for the post of Consultant Diagnostic Neuroradiologist. This is a new post to join a team of 5 existing Neuroradiology colleagues within the Neurosciences Directorate. The successful candidate will be selected on the skills they can bring to the Trust and their ability to integrate into the department. This post is a 100 Programmed Activity Job Plan plus there is a 1:5 on-call commitment, which will be subject to the Terms and Conditions of the New Consultant Contract. Candidates will be encouraged and supported to develop their own sub-speciality interests. The post will primarily be focused on cross-sectional neuroradiological imaging resulting from activity across the Trust sites including The County Stafford site, where there will be an element of cross site working required. Expertise in minor neurointerventional procedures would be advantageous.

The Neurovascular and Hyper-acute Stroke Services at the University Hospital of North Midlands serve a population of in the region of 2 million in the Potteries and surrounding rural Districts. The radiology department provides high quality imaging equipment and performs over 490,000 examinations per annum across all modalities. The hospital is extremely busy and is also a Major Trauma Centre, which it has been since 2012.

The University Hospital of North Midlands is also the main teaching hospital with its strong links with Keele University and undergraduate and post graduate teaching is encouraged. The department has its own standalone training scheme within the West Midlands School of Radiology and has 22 NTN posts.

The University hospital of North Midlands is perfectly located next to the M6 which is within commuting distance from centres such as Manchester and Birmingham, and surrounded by Staffordshire’s finest rural leisure and activities parks and the Peak District National Park.

The successful candidate must have full GMC registration, possess FRCR (or equivalent), and have CCT or an expected CCT date within 6 months of the interview. The applicant should also have evidence of suitable neuroradiology sub-speciality training.
