Consultant in Paediatric Oncology with an interest in Neuro-oncology

Online applications are invited for a Consultant in Paediatric Oncology with an interest in Neuro-oncology. This is a new full time substantive post but less than full time applications will be considered.

The Trust is a major teaching centre for the University of Southampton providing a tertiary paediatric oncology service for the Wessex region. All major paediatric specialities are also provided including allergy, cardiology, ENT, gastroenterology, urology, nephrology, neonatology (level 3), neurology and neurosurgery, orthopaedics (including spinal), paediatric intensive care, paediatric and neonatal surgery, diabetes, respiratory medicine, radiology and endocrinology. The hospital offers ample opportunities for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and excellent facilities for research and clinical care.

We are looking for a colleague to join an existing team of 3 paediatric oncology and 2 paediatric haematology consultants, in particular to strengthen and develop the paediatric neuro-oncology service. The successful applicant will be involved in the care of children with all types of malignancy, but will be supported to develop a special interest in neuro-oncology. They will work closely with a strong multi-disciplinary team to provide specialist care of children with cancer across the Wessex region, including support of the 11 paediatric oncology shared care units across the region.

Applications should have a CCT or be on the GMC’s Specialist Register. Applicants who are within six months of obtaining their CCT are also invited to apply. Where equivalent qualifications and experience are being offered, it is essential that candidates provide confirmation of this from the relevant College or Faculty in the United Kingdom, and attach the confirmation to their application.
