Job Description

Summary of Role:

There is an exciting opportunity to be part of a newly developing team in Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, based in St Helens. We seek to appoint 1 experienced and dedicated Consultant Community Paediatrician to be involved in a new model of delivery.

The service involves Consultants, Speciality Grade Doctors, Advanced Nurse Practitioners and Specialist Nurses to work alongside the Consultants in neurodevelopmental and neuro disability assessments and management and in assessments for Looked After Children. The service works closely with Allied Health Professionals and Local Authority staff in ensuring a joined up approach to supporting Children and their Families.

This Consultant will take the Designated Medical Officer role in St Helens, seeing children with disabilities and neurodevelopmental issues alongside a number of other community conditions and providing advice to the Local Authority as required. There will be 1 day per fortnight allocation to Halton Community Paediatric Service as part of the role.

Applicants must have a Post graduate Medical degree (MRCP, MRCPCH or equivalent), have full unrestricted GMC registration and be on the GMC Specialist register. The applicant must be able to travel freely across the Bridgewater area.

The successful applicants will work closely with the clinical director, the Assistant Director for Childrens Services and the Childrens Clinical Manager to support development of services for children with neuro disability. Being involved in developing a new service in St Helens is a great opportunity and new challenge for the successful applicant.

The Trust has taken the decision to recharge successful candidates for the cost of their DBS disclosure. This post requires a(n) Enhanced / Standard DBS disclosure. The current price of this is £44/£26. The Trust will pay the initial costs, which will be recovered, in installments, from your first three salary payments.
