Applications are invited for this new whole time permanent Consultant post (10 PA’s), within a friendly and enthusiastic team of paediatricians. The post holder is expected to participate in a general on call rota (1 in 10)
The successful applicant will join 9 consultants providing shared responsibilities for general paediatrics, neonatal intensive care (level 2) and Child Development Clinic within an integrated child health service. The post includes a general paediatric and neonatal commitment, together with weekly neuro-disability clinics. Additional interest in any other areas of Paediatrics is also welcome. A consultant of the week model of care is in place. Applications for part time working or job sharing arrangement would also be welcome.
Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust was opened progressively between 1984 and 1989 on a green field site two miles east of the centre of Chesterfield and comprises approximately 550 beds. It provides almost all of the acute in-patient care for Chesterfield and the surrounding rural area of North Derbyshire, serving a population of approximately 350,000 people.
The area to the west of Chesterfield, which attracts many visitors, is predominantly rural and includes the market towns of Matlock and Bakewell lying in west Derbyshire and the spa town of Buxton in the HighPeak. Chesterfield itself lies in the east of the area and is a thriving market town. The PeakDistrictNational Park, which includes the Chatsworth Estate, lies within a few miles of the town boundary.
There are good road and rail links between Chesterfield and London and other major cities in the country. Sheffield, Nottingham and Derby are approximately 14 miles, 24 miles and 26 miles respectively. The M1 motorway passes within the eastern boundary of the District, providing an easy link with the EastMidlandAirport.
