This replacement post provides an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and energetic physician to join the Consultants and the multidisciplinary team to further develop diabetes and endocrinology services in a small, friendly medical community. We aim to provide a service which fulfils National Service Framework Standards with seamless care between primary and secondary services as part of NHS Herefordshire’s Integrated Care Service.

We are looking for a colleague who will make a full and active contribution to the Department of Diabetes and Endocrinology and to the wider Department of Medicine. You will be based in the Diabetes Centre at Hereford County Hospital and will work collaboratively with our close-knit team to further develop the service and contribute to local guidelines, care pathways and education programmes within the Trust.

Every encouragement will be given by the team to develop aspects of the service which are of particular interest to you. This is an opportunity for you to make your mark within the service in a supportive multidisciplinary team environment.

You will join an existing team of 12 physicians and participate in the general medical on-call rota 1 in 13. The directorate is in the process of developing Acute Medicine services and has recently appointed consultant Acute Physicians who provide weekday daytime cover for the emergency intake. The Trust is planning to increase consultant numbers in the key medical specialties of Respiratory, Cardiology, Gastroenterology and Geriatric Medicine in order to facilitate 7 day working.

Hereford County Hospital is a modern rural district general hospital of 198 beds serving a population of approximately 230,000 from Herefordshire and neighbouring counties. Transport links, quality of schools, natural beauty, low crime rate, property prices, cultural life and employment figures combine to make Herefordshire an attractive proposition for those considering relocation.

A remuneration package may be available including a recruitment premium and relocation package.
