Consultant in Dermatology– 10 PA’s

Medway NHS Foundation Trust is unique – undergoing transformational changes within the organisation that provides an extensive range of clinical services to a diverse population of approximately 400,000 across Medway and Swale. We are looking for a Consultant Dermatologist who shares our ambition and vision to deliver the Best of Care by the Best People and has the drive to take us forward, by ensuring the Trust continues to be the first choice for patients and our staff.

Medway NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a consultant dermatologist to join the existing team of consultants and nurses. The successful applicant will be based at Medway Maritime Hospital although may be involved in outreach clinics and provide leadership and consultant expertise to the service.

The Dermatology Team include 7 consultants, junior medical staff including 2 specialist regitrars, sessional activity undertaken by GP’s with Specialist Interest and a clinical nurse specialist. The main Dermatology Unit in Medway provides a full range of treatment modalities, including skin surgery, phototherapy, systemic therapy including biologics, and the care of those individuals who have complex skin diseases some of whom may require hospitalisation. The service currently provides services at a Health Centre in Borough Green, Darent Valley Hospital and Maidstone Hospital. The department provides services to a population of approximately 1m patients.

We benefit from a strong and committed nursing team who are expanding nurse-driven dermatology services. We are also committed to developing a robust local GPSI service, fully integrated with secondary care. The department leads the specialist skin cancer MDT and has a close working relationship with plastic surgery,dermatopathology and oncology .in addition there is colaberation with rheumatology and maxillofacial surgery.

It is intended that successful post holders will be able to develop a special interest. Currently the department provides a range of sub-specialty services including dermatological surgery, teledermatology, paediatrics and biologic therapy. We wish to expand our contact allergy service.

We are keen to encourage newly accredited consultants, and would equally welcome applications from experienced consultants wishing to take up a new challenge. We would seek to support or develop a range of specialist interests to suit the individual, within the service.

Applicants must be fully registered with the GMC, have MRCP or FRCP and be on the specialist register or within six months of Certificate of Completion of Training. Candidates should be highly motivated, forward thinking, and looking to develop a dynamic and high quality dermatology service for the patients of West Kent.
