Job Description

40 hours (10PA’s) per week plus on-call

£76,001 - £102,465 per annum plus 05PA for on-call and 3% (of a 10 PA salary) Category A availability supplement

The post-holder will provide clinical leadership for Community Mental Health Team in Folkestone.

The total population of Dover/Deal is 250,000 with the 16-65 population of 61,000.

There are two Consultants covering the Community Mental Health Team.

The post holder will provide practical input as required to patients in the Community Mental Health Team he/she will attend CPAs for patients and provide urgent assessment/advice as required.

He/she will do domiciliary visits as requested by team members or GPs. He/she will be available to see patients elsewhere in the community team or in police stations. There is not a separate fee for domiciliary visits or Mental Health Act assessments carried out as part of the standard care of patients within the catchment area.

On average it will be expected for the Consultant to see between 2-4 patients per week with an additional 10-15 patients in the outpatient clinics that will give a minimum total of at least 14 patient contacts per week.

Applicants should have Specialist Registration with the GMC, as well as Approved Clinician and S12 approval under the Mental Health Act. There is an associated on call commitment.

The successful applicant will be required to have enhanced clearance from the Disclosure and Barring Service.
