2gether Foundation Trust provides Mental Health and specialist Learning Disability services across the counties of Gloucestershire and Herefordshire. The Trust was approved by the Secretary of State as a Foundation Trust from July 2007. The Trust has recently been rated overall as ’Good’ by the CQC, with acute wards for adults of working age and crisis services both being rated as ‘Outstanding’.

Herefordshire offers excellent living and working prospects. Nearby are the Wye Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty; the Forest of Dean; the Malvern Hills; and the Brecon Beacons National Park; with easy access to the M5 and M50. Bristol, Birmingham, Cardiff and Cheltenham are all within easy reach of Herefordshire. The area also has the benefit of outstanding schools and a rich cultural life. Surrounding the small city of Hereford there are many attractive villages set in beautiful countryside and five busy small market towns.

A vacancy has arisen for a full-time Consultant Psychiatrist in Learning Disabilities to work within the Herefordshire Community Learning Disabilities Team.

The successful candidate will provide senior medical advice, support, consultancy and clinical leadership to the team. The consultant will be expected to provide clinical leadership to the team through good multi-professional working. The consultant will have shared responsibility for the clinical care of those patients referred to the team and will be expected to work closely with the operational manager to ensure the provision of an effective service. The consultant will not have any responsibility for inpatients.

The postholder will have an on-call commitment of 1 in 11. On-call consultants also provide section 12 cover for the county.

Please be aware that all new employees to the Trust who need to have a DBS check in order to carry out their role, will be required to repay the cost, which is currently £44 for an enhanced check or £26 for a standard check.

As part of the Trust requirement to practice safely all internal applicants, including bank staff, are required to be up to date with statutory and mandatory training, or have booked dates for expired training.
