The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn NHS Foundation Trust
THE QUEEN ELIZABETH HOSPITAL KING’S LYNN NHS FOUNDATION TRUST
Applications are invited for two full time Geriatricians who are required for the Department of Medicine at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital King’s Lynn NHS Foundation Trust.
We are seeking highly motivated and inspirational newly qualified or experienced Consultant Geriatricians to join us at a time of rapid growth and older people service development across the whole local health system including primary care, secondary care and community care. Successful candidates will have an opportunity to gain valuable experience of service transformation and development. One of these two posts is a new post, while the other is a replacement post.
It is envisaged that these two posts will provide support to our enthusiastic and multi-disciplinary team to sustain and further improve the progressive development of older people health and evolving frailty services.
The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Kings Lynn NHS Foundation Trust provides an acute and community health service serving the principle towns of King’s Lynn, Downham Market, Fakenham, Hunstanton, Swaffham and Wisbech. The district is predominantly rural. The King’s Lynn Hospitals provide the greater part of the general hospital services for the district supported by the North Cambridgeshire Hospital, Wisbech, Cambridgeshire.
In addition to general medical duties there are flexible commitments, including administration, management, committee work, pastoral visits, relative interviews etc...
The post holders will be part of the acute medicine on call rota. Currently each of the physicians is first on call for medicine approximately 1 in 15 weekdays and 1 in 9 weekends. This is likely to be reduced following the implementation of seven days frailty services. Work is in progress and it is likely that all the care of the elderly consultants will participate in a rota for the assessment and management of frail older patients over seven days a week.

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the Resident Labour Market Test. The UK Visas and Immigration department requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UK Visas and Immigration website.
Applicants must have current UK professional registration. For further information please see applying from overseas.
