Applications are invited for an initial six month appointment as a Clinical Trust Fellow SHO in critical care, based on our Medical High Dependency Unit (MHDU). The MHDU has six beds with six hundred admissions per year and forms part of the Trust’s twenty five critical care beds along with the nine bedded ICU and the ten bedded Surgical HDU (SHDU). We would welcome applicants with a background in any acute medical specialty and this job would be ideal for those wishing to improve their skills in managing critically unwell patients. You will gain experience in the use of non-invasive ventilation, haemodynamic support, and invasive monitoring to manage a diverse case-mix of critically unwell patients. The MHDU is run by consultant respiratory physicians with an interest in critical care and as such there will also be opportunities for you to attend the thoracoscopy, bronchoscopy and EBUS lists as well as lung MDT and pleural clinics. You will also have the opportunity to support the critical care outreach team and the critical care research team.
