Our Dental Therapist working 15 hours per week will ensure that high quality, evidence based dental services are delivered effectively and efficiently to patients referred to and accepted by Surrey Community Dental Service. You will be expected to provide comprehensive, clinical care to children and adults patients with special needs and/or patients with special dental requirements under prescription from a dentist.
Provide comprehensive preventative oral health education instruction and guidance to patients and parents, including: diet advice, diet analysis, oral hygiene, hygiene aids, and smoking cessation. Instruction must be geared and adapted individually to take into account communication issues (dealing with young children or patients with learning disabilities or challenging behaviour), physical disabilities and special circumstances (medicinal or dietary).
Our Dental Therapist will manage and take responsibility for the Dental Dept/ Clinic in the absence of a Dental Officer and liaise with colleagues and other healthcare professionals as necessary and provide onward referrals, if appropriate.
Dental Care may be provided in community, prison, or domiciliary settings, as a flexible approach is required to address the clinical care needs of these patients.
You will take part in clinical audit, peer review and other clinical governance requirements and maintain professional knowledge and awareness of current dental issues.
Our hub is based at Buryfields clinic, Guildford, but the successful applicant will be required to work in various dental clinics in Surrey.
This is an exciting opportunity to work within Surrey Community Dental ServicesOur service comprises 14 clinics that are distributed across Surrey and we provide high quality treatment and oral care for adults and children whose specific needs have prevented them from accessing dental care through the General Dental Service. Our existing team includes specialists in Special Care Dentistry, Oral surgery and Orthodontics.
The service is led by the Service manager with the support of a dedicated team who provide an invaluable service to our patients.
