Outpatient Diabetes Specialist Nurse- band 6

Based at New QE11 Hospital- Welwyn Garden City.

1 WTE -375hrs per week- Job share will be considered

We are looking for an enthusiastic registered nurse to join the East & North Herts NHS Trust Specialist Diabetes service. You must have 1st level NMC registration. You will have substantial post registration experience, including a period at senior nurse level.

As a member of the trust wide diabetes nursing team, the post holders will take responsibility for the provision of expert nursing care and be able to demonstrate competent experience in managing diabetes. You must also be able to work effectively as part of a team, be able to work unsupervised and use a high level of interpersonal skills. The main area of work will be providing direct clinical care to people with diabetes and their carers.

You will be working in secondary care, eventually providing complex case management and supporting people with diabetes in the acute clinical setting.
The diabetes service has established principles of multidisciplinary team working, and the delivery of structured teaching and training courses to both health care professionals and people with diabetes. They have a team based approach and are a core part of the specialist service work. Specialist diabetes training and clinical supervision will be provided within the current expert nursing team.

The post will be based within a locality team but the post holder may be required to work at other sites within the Trust. You must be able to meet the travel requirements of this post.
The Diabetes Specialist Nurse team provides ward cover 7 days per week. This service is delivered on a rotational basis with Diabetes consultant on-call support. You will join this rotation after a period of training and with supervision.
